Has it come to this, expletives and schoolyard tomfoolery to sell records?

Has it come to this, expletives and schoolyard tomfoolery to sell records? Well no, not in this case, as Giant Drag mix bizarre style with a fair amount of substance to produce a more than adequate debut album. Opener Kevin is Gay has you chuckling before it's begun and then forcing you to nod your head whilst rocking to the pounding drums and cutesy guitar work. The foul mouthed - and thus irresistible - Annie Hardy does the guitar and vocal thing, whilst Micah Calabrese seemingly takes on every other part, but no White Stripes-esque lack of bass here; hell no, this is full on rock and roll, with some high school swearing and talk of dirtiness. I like it. [Jon Seller]
