Electroluvs - Bubblewrapped

Bubblewrapped' will appeal to anyone who loves lo-fi cheesy pop with a caustic electro edge

Album Review by Dave Reid | 16 May 2006
Album title: Bubblewrapped
Artist: Electroluvs
Label: NinthWave Records
Scottish duo Electroluvs sound like the love child of Sons & Daughters and The Human League. Their second album on Ninthwave Records, 'Bubblewrapped' is a punchy electroclash riot of infectious beats, sharp-tongued lyrics and trashy guitar. It opens up in a catchy and kooky style with just the right level of kitsch, before moving on to a darker and slightly more menacing tone on some of the album's later tracks. Although initially easy enough to bop along to the record, it lacks enough substance for that to last for long, but then that's perhaps not really the idea with this sort of indie pop. The album is let down by a couple of weak tracks and the sound can be a little too dated, but regardless, 'Bubblewrapped' will surely appeal to anyone who loves lo-fi cheesy pop with a caustic electro edge.
