Black Honey is the long-awaited debut album by the Brighton band of the same name. They’ve been making their way through the indie game since 2014 with their cinematic vignettes and squalling guitars. They are certainly one of a kind.

Album opener, I Only Hurt the Ones I Love brings together everything previously heard from Black Honey in a clashing patterns style, perfectly setting the tone for the record. Black Honey celebrates being human, making it vastly relatable; delving deep into the weird and wonderful mind of Izzy B Phillips, it's almost as if we’ve gained access to her diary scribbles and inner deepest thoughts.

Phillips' enthralling stage presence shines throughout this record, with slinky vocals that infiltrate your mind and consume your thoughts. Dig possesses an anthemic ballad feel, something you can truly belt out juxtaposed to the disco-pop of Midnight that’ll get you on your feet and dancing, while Blue Romance holds a Lana Del Rey-esque slow-burner of a track, again showing another strand to the extensive repertoire of Black Honey.

This debut album truly projects the versatility Black Honey have in terms of what they're capable of and only excites us more for what’s still to come.
