Beverley Knight - Voice

A great album for squawking along to while you're stuck in traffic, taking a bath or getting ready for a girlie night out

Album Review by Gill McKenzie | 16 Apr 2006
Album title: Voice
Artist: Beverley Knight
Label: Parlophone
A decade ago Beverley Knight burst onto the UK R'n'B scene with her debut 'The B-Funk'. Three Mobos, two Brits and three gold selling albums later, Knight releases her greatest hits collection. 'Voice' is a great all-rounder, containing some of Knight's hottest tracks including Get up, Keep this Fire Burning and the classic Flavour of the Old School. The downside would have to be the obligatory bonus ballads, Who's Gonna Save Your Soul – sounding like a weepie from a Disney movie and a live cover of Angels – Robbie Williams' Asda-price anthem. The latter, however, does prove that Knight can take any old dreary song and use it to showcase her superb vocal talent. All in all, a great album for squawking along to while you're stuck in traffic, taking a bath or getting ready for a girlie night out and I for one can't wait to see the Wolverhampton lass live when she tours in the spring.
