The annual Wide Days music convention is an annual chance for aspiring bands, promoters and music industry types to get together, network and generally find out what each other are up to, with the centrepiece coming in the form of free showcase gigs across Edinburgh. This year's showcase line-up features a varied mix of bands from across Scotland, playing shows at Teviot Row House and La Belle Angele on Friday 12 April.

The Teviot line-up features Glasgow-based solo artist Megan Airlie, genre-bending multi-instrumental duo VanIves and Edinburgh electropop artist SHEARS. Later in the evening at La Belle Angele, the bill includes the woozy electronic sounds of Eyes of Others, synth-happy Edinburgh duo Chuchoter, Perth-based "underground pop" band Parliamo and Dumfries psych-punks Franky's Evil Party. Both gigs are free to all; grab your tickets here.

Wide Days have also added an extra night of live music for this year – the three-day convention kicks off on Thursday 11 April with a gig from Carla J. Easton, Man of Moon and Tom McGuire and the Brassholes, while Saturday 13 April will feature gigs across three venues programmed by three Scottish festivals.
