Iconic rock band The Cure are set to headline next year's Glasgow Summer Sessions with a headline show on Friday 16 August 2019 at Bellahouston Park.

The performance will mark the band's first Scottish gig in 27 years — featuring a line-up of frontman Robert Smith, along with long-time band members Simon Gallup (Bass), Jason Cooper (Drums), Roger O’Donnell (Keyboard) and Reeves Gabrels (Guitar) — and will be one of only a select few headline spots at festivals around the world. Now entering their 5th decade, the group have released 13 studio albums and are currently working on new material.

Mogwai will support the group for their return to Scotland, whilst The Twilight Sad have also been announced as support. Opening the show will be Welsh alt-rockers The Joy Formidable.

Now in its 7th year, the yearly music festival has brought the likes of The Killers, Eminem, Avicii and David Guetta to Glasgow. Last year's line-up included performances from Kendrick Lamar, Catfish and the Bottlemen, Kings of Leon, N.E.R.D., and Twin Atlantic.

Glasgow Summer Sessions will take place at Bellahouston Park, Glasgow; tickets will go on sale Friday 26 October at 9am from www.smmrsessions.com and www.ticketmaster.co.uk
