NEW VIDEOS: CHVRCHES, DELTRON 3030 X ZACK DE LA ROCHA, THESE NEW PURITANS, SNOOP DOGG & DAM FUNK, TRICKY, MAGIK MARKERS, YOKO ONO, BLVCK CEILING
The biggest video of the week, without a doubt, is the science fiction-flavoured clip for Lies by CHVRCHES, one of the standout cuts from their excellent debut The Bones Of What You Believe (reviewed here). Seriously, take 5 minutes, HD this, and sit back and thrill to the blend of perfect synth-pop and icy, futuristic visuals. Read our extended interview with the band here.

Coming a close second is the in-your-face animated weirdness of the new track from Deltron 3030 (aka Del Tha Funkee Homosapien, with Dan The Automator and Kid Koala on the panels). It's taken from their recent album Deltron 3030: Event II

Another animated clip now, this time from These New Puritans, taken from the album Field of Reeds (reviewed here). We recently spoke to the band's Jack Barnett about the acclaimed album – read our interview here.

Snoop Dogg and Dâm-Funk's much-touted collaboration bore fruit this week in the form of a video for their track Faden Away. The retro-themed video features Snoop sporting some wet-look jheri curls. It's a smooth slice of liquid funk.

Tricky has a new video up this week, taken from his impressive comeback album False Idols (reviewed here). It's a darker take on the album cut, featuring vocals from Tricky's regular collaborator Francesca Belmonte.

Magik Markers, the Connecticut noise-rock band, have announced their new album Surrender To The Fantasy, out on 18 November. This week they shared the video for lead track Bonfire.

Perhaps the most unlikely video of the year comes from Yoko Ono, showing off her rap skills, and featuring guest appearances from Beastie Boys Ad-Rock and Mike D, former Das Racist star Heems, ?uestlove from The Roots, Roberta Flack, Deerhoof's Greg Saunier, Ira Glass, Cibo Matto and others. Play spot-the-alternative-icon in the video for Bad Dancer.

Finally, a cut from US dark electronic producer BLVCK CEILING, who is featured regularly on The Skinny's NETVERK podcast, combining gothic synths with pitch-black hip-hop beats in a video directed by Phantasma Disques visual mastermind Cosmotropia De Xam, of Mater Suspiria Vision.

NEW TRACKS: AUDION, ZOMBY X DARKSTAR, SNOWBIRD, AUTRE NE VEUT & FENNESZ, RAEKWON X LORDE
Witness the return of Audion, the techno-centric alias of Ghostly founder and alt.pop legend Matthew Dear – his week he unveiled a new track, Motormouth, and announced a retrospective collection, Audion X, which will drop on 10 December, with a new album to follow next year.

More electronic goodness – Twitter-baiting post-dubstep producer Zomby has remixed a track by Darkstar, taken from their forthcoming remix EP, HD7, out 25 November.

Snowbird is the new project from Simon Raymonde, the label boss behind Bella Union, and a former Cocteau Twin. We spoke to Raymonde, getting his thoughts on the future of the music industry, a few months back. Now, he is preparing to release Snowbird's debut album, moon. The album features contributions from Ed O'Brien and Phil Selway of Radiohead, Eric Pulido and McKenzie Smith of Midlake, Jonathan Wilson, and Paul Gregory of Lanterns on the Lake. The album drops in January.

Experimental musician Autre Ne Veut has unveiled a new track this week, taken from a forthcoming compilation on Brooklyn's Mexican Summer label. It's a collaboration with Fennesz

And finally, here's Wu-Tang founder member Raekwon giving us his take on New Zealand singer Lorde's Royals. The rapper is working on his new album F.I.L.A. (Fly International Luxurious Art)

NEW TRAILERS: OLDBOY, THE HOBBIT: THE DESOLATION OF SMAUG, THE LEGO MOVIE
A quick roundup of new trailers – firstly, here's Josh Brolin in the equally anticipated and dreaded remake of Oldboy, directed by Spike Lee from the Park Chan-Wook original. What do you reckon film-fans, potential triumph or inevitable travesty?

Next up, the full cinematic trailer for The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, the second in the well-padded trilogy adapted by Peter Jackson from J.R.R. Tolkien's The Hobbit. The new clip features the return of pretty boy Orlando Bloom as Legolas (not in the book) and Evangeline Lilly as Tauriel (completely made up). Make of it what you will, but the dragon Smaug, voiced by none other than Benedict Cumberbatch, promises to be a spectacle, if nothing else.

And finally – a movie about Lego, voiced by, among others, Will Ferrell and Liam Neeson, and with a surprising cast of guest-stars from famous franchises. Yeah, we're big kids, what about it?
