BLOODY SCOTLAND CRIME FICTION FESTIVAL RETURNS IN SEPTEMBER
Scotland's crime fiction authors – from Ian Rankin to Val McDermid, from William McIlvanney to Denise Mina – are some of the best-selling and best-loved genre writers in the world, and last year's inaugural Bloody Scotland festival in Stirling was a star-studded celebration of their worldwide fame and success, seeing informative presntations and lectures from the likes of Christopher Brookmyre, whose murder scenes were analysed for accuracy by a forensic expert, and the above-mentioned authors, all of whom read from and discussed thier work. You can read our covergae of last year's event here.

The festival makes a welcome return in September (13-15). The lineup of authors featuring at this year's event will be announced on 5 June – until then, whet your appetite by reading our exclusive interview with William McIlvanney, the original 'tartan noir' writer, whose influential novel Laidlaw is being republished by Canongate next month. The interview will run in the May issue of The Skinny – keep your eyes peeled!
