Stream Shackleton's Freezing Opening Thawing EP
| 13 Jan 2014
Long regarded as one of the most inventive and talented producers to emerge from the nascent dubstep scene, Shackleton returns next week with a new EP, Freezing Opening Thawing, on his own Woe to the Septic Heart label, which he started after shutting down Skull Disco, the label he ran with Appleblim, in 2008.
Freezing Opening Thawing is his first EP since 2012's Music for the Quiet Hour/The Drawbar Organ, a box-set of EPs. The new three-track EP sees Shackleton "move away from sample manipulation in favor of synthesis," according to a press release. Angular, bubbling synth patterns ride understated, complex and shifting beats – have a listen to Shackleton's new direction below.
