Spice Girls heading to Edinburgh on a reunion tour

The 90s sensations are reforming – minus Victoria Beckham – for a UK tour in 2019, which includes a stop at Edinburgh’s Murrayfield

Stop right now! It’s been announced that the Spice Girls – well, four fifths of them – will be reuniting for a UK tour next summer to spice up all our lives. Emma, Mel B, Melanie C and Geri will be putting their differences aside for a series of half a dozen gigs next June, including a stop at Edinburgh’s Murrayfield Stadium. The eagle-eyed of you will notice this isn’t a full reunion. Turns out Posh aka Victoria Beckham is too posh to join her pals.

“We are beyond excited to be reuniting next year for a stadium tour!” said the pop group. “Bringing girl power and our message of friendship and love back to the stage feels more relevant than ever. We hope everyone can join us for one big Spice Girls party!”

They announced the surprise tour with a video on Twitter (see below) and a little snippet of them singing Spice Up Your Life. Beckham is conspicuous by her absence, although she wishes her bandmates the best of luck. “Being in the Spice Girls was a hugely important part of my life and I wish my girls so much love and fun as they go back on tour,” Beckham said in a statement. “I know they will put on an amazing show and the fantastic fans past and present are going to have a wonderful time!”

This will be the first Spice Girls tour in over 20 years. On their 1998 world tour they also performed as a four piece, although back then it was without Geri, who'd left the band to work as a solo artist. In addition to the Edinburgh date on Saturday 8 June, the tour will include performances at Manchester, Coventry, Bristol, Sunderland and London.

Tickets go on sale Saturday 10 November at 10.30am at www.ticketmaster.co.uk | www.gigsandtours.com | www.gigsinscotland.com. For the full tour dates, see below:
