Premiere: The Notwist – Live at Le Guess Who?

Article by Music Team | 06 Jul 2016

As Utrecht's finest experimental music festival gears up for a banner year, Le Guess Who? bring us three stirring tracks from the shape-shifting veterans' set last autumn

The Notwist, a German avant garde and experimental group who have undergone countlesss transformations and genre shifts in their career, build thrilling passages of brooding post-rock, pulsing electro and freaked-out jazz.

As our reviewer astutely observed from their last studio offering, 2014's Close to the Glass: "Where some bands trade in vitriol, the Notwist prefer icy chill."

We were lucky enough to catch them in action at last year's edition of the formidable Le Guess Who? Festival in Utrecht, Netherlands. Now our friends there have released this recording of three tracks from the set, made by VPRO Vrije Geluiden. Take a listen in the player below.

Le Guess Who? 2016 takes place on 10-13 November, featuring artist-curated line-ups chosen by Wilco, Savages, Julia Holter and Suuns. Read the line-up so far here
