25 years on from the release of their seminal debut 3 Feet High and Rising, Long island hip-hop trio De La Soul will be touring the world to celebrate the legacy of the Daisy Age. Posdnous, aka Plug One, Trugoy, aka Plug Two, and Maseo, aka Plug Three formed De La Soul in 1987, releasing their Prince Paul-produced debut two years later. They were part of the Native Tongues movement, showcasing a conscious, positive take on hip-hop along with A Tribe Called Quest and the Jungle Brothers, among others.

The band remained popular throughout the 90s, producing more classic albums, like De La Soul Is Dead (1991), Buhloone Mindstate  (1993) and Stakes Is High (1996). Returning last year with a brace of new tracks, the band are now ready to celebrate their 25th anniversary by heading out on the road. They will play a clutch of significant dates stateside, including Dilla Day in Detroit on 7 Feb, before heading to the UK and hitting up Manchester's Academy on 2 May, and Glasgow's The Arches on 3 May.

Also heading out on the road from February on are Thee Silver Mount Zion Memorial Orchestra - the Canadian orchestral post-rock masters, founded in 1999 by Efrim Menueck (also Godpseed You! Black Emperor), released their latest album Fuck Off Get Free We Pour Light On Everything this month, and now they plan to tour American and Europe to support it. They will be visiting Glasgow's Òran Mór on 25 February. Read The Skinny's recent interview with Efrim Menuck here
