The Glasgow label reveal who'll be playing their Edinburgh International Festival night at Leith Theatre

The Skinny are more than a little hyped for Light on the Shore, Edinburgh International Festival’s season of gigs celebrating Scottish music. Taking place at Leith Theatre throughout August, the epic line-up reads like a who’s who of our nation's music scene, with performances scheduled for everyone from The Jesus and Mary Chain to Mogwai, Django Django to The Pastels, and Anna Meredith to Alan Cumming.

Glasgow label Numbers will also curate a night at Light on the Shore, and their showcase has been announced today. Taking place on 11 August, the Numbers showcase will feature “a night of laser guided melodies, digital precision and electronic embrace with SOPHIE, Lanark Artefax, Spencer and Sofay.”

SOPHIE is a Scottish electronic producer, songwriter and DJ based in LA, who’s worked with the likes of Vince Staples, Kendrick Lamar and Charli XCX over the years, and most recently co-wrote and co-produced two songs – Hot Pink and It's Not Just Me – from Let's Eat Grandma's upcoming album I'm All Ears due at the end of this month. As stated in EIF's press release, SOPHIE's "singular sound shirks convention and pushes familiar musical styles to their furthest extremes,” and we can't wait to experience this in the Leith Theatre.

On the night, SOPHIE will be joined by Lanark Artefax who's been tagged as one of the most exciting young electronic artists in the UK right now winning praise from the likes of Aphex Twin and Björk, the latter having dropped a number of his tracks into her recent DJ sets. Along with Kelly Lee Owens and Jlin, Artefax was one of three producers who tackled remixing Björk's incredible track Arisen My Senses earlier this year and is also set to support her on a selection of dates this summer.

DJ sets from Glasgow-based Sofay and Numbers co-founder Spencer will round off the night.

Numbers Presents… takes place at Leith Theatre on Sat 11 Aug, starting at 10.30pm. Tickets available at eif.co.uk or by phone on 0131 473 2000
