Jo Mango – Wisps of Something (Track Premiere)

Feature by News Team | 24 Oct 2016

Listen to Wisps of Something by Jo Mango, taken from a new split EP by a quartet of Olive Grove Records acts.

It Is Something To Have Been features tracks from The Son(s), The State Broadcasters, Call To Mind and Mango. The EP is released in honour of Olive Grove founder Lloyd Meredith's late father Peter, who passed away in November 2015; the EP's release date of 25 November would have been Peter’s 66th birthday.

Describing her contribution to the EP, Jo Mango says: "Wisps of Something is a song for the amazing people I met when I was working as songwriter in residence in Greenock. They were slogging their guts out working in the Amazon warehouse or on night shifts cleaning buses and then instead of going home and sleeping they were coming straight to community centres to write songs and play music.

"I was really inspired by them and I wanted to write them something inspiring to cheer them on – thus this is one of the more rousing songs I've ever written. I hope they like it."

Jo Mango, The State Broadcasters, Call to Mind and The Son(s) play the It Is Something To Have Been EP launch at the Glad Cafe, Glasgow on 19 Nov; It Is Something To Have Been is out on green vinyl and download on 25 Nov, and available for pre-order.
