Independent Venue Week returns in January 2017, with Manchester's rising post-punk heroes Cabbage among the first wave of acts to be announced, following their recent nomination for the BBC's Sound of 2017 award.

This year's festival ambassador has also been announced, with The Charlatans' Tim Burgess stepping into the role and promising a mini-tour under his Tim Peaks moniker. He follows previous incumbents such as Radiohead's Colin Greenwood and Frank Turner.

Independent Venue Week was first established in 2014 as a means to celebrate the UK's smaller live music spots, in response to a series of closures across the country. Over 120 venues will take part in 2017, including 30 venues new to the festival.

Independent Venue Week 2017 takes place between 23-29 January. Read on for the full line-up of shows confirmed thus far in Scotland and the North, or head to the IVW website for the festival's full listings.
