goNorth 2009 @ Inverness, 11-12 Jun

Feature by Kate Connolly | 18 Mar 2009

Scotland's leading music showcase, goNorth, is looking for new acts to appear at this year's event, to be held in Inverness over 11th and 12th June 2009.

At least 60 acts will be selected from the applicants, and they will have the chance to perform in front of influential music industry professionals and talent scouts in venues all over the city. The successful artists will also have the opportunity of featuring on the goNorth 2009 album, which will be released direct to the industry via the magazine Music Week, and of performing on the goNorth stage at the Rock Ness festival. Entries can be submitted online via www.sonicbids.com/gonorth until 6pm on Friday 27th March.

All goNorth showcase gigs are free to attend and open to all. In previous years, the gigs have featured new international acts from the USA, Russia and Scandinavia, as well as homegrown talent, and this year's event promises to be just as eclectic. As well as the showcase gigs, there will also be a programme of film screenings, seminars and practical workshops on all aspects of the music industry, from songwriting and publishing to digital media and management.
