To mark the tenth anniversary of Frightened Rabbit's acclaimed second album, The Midnight Organ Fight, the Selkirk band plan some shows where they will play the record in its entirety

The Midnight Organ Fight, the second studio album from Frightened Rabbit, turns ten next year, and to mark the anniversary Scott Hutchison and co will perform the album in full on a special tour, which they announced today on Twitter. The tour closes with a show at Glasgow’s O2 Academy on 17 Mar. The full tour dates are below.

The album saw the indie-rockers, who hail from Selkirk, taken a huge leap forward musically and in terms of wider acclaim. Its release in 2008 was met with rave reviews from the likes of Spin, Paste, Pitchfork and Drowned In Sound. The Skinny was one of the record’s biggest champions, claiming it the number one album of 2008 and the fourth best of the decade.

Announcing the tour, the band said: "This album holds a dear place in our collective heart. It was the one that allowed us to believe that we could do this band thing. Really do it. It's the one that made the people in front of us SING. Really sing. It's the album [we] still talk about most with people [we] meet at our shows. The wee bugger will not go away, and we are alright with that."

In our review of the record, we said “It's an album that invokes a range of emotions but generally leaves you exhilarated; enough, in Frightened Rabbit's unique idiom, to make the fast blood hurricane through you.”

When we spoke to the band back in 2008, they recalled the exhilarating feeling of putting Midnight Organ Fight out into the world. "I was in Edinburgh actually," said Scott Hutchison. "I went to Avalanche and bought a copy, and they were already playing it when I went in. I was like [clenches fist]!".

"I went into FOPP and it was the same," says Grant Hutchison, "they were playing it in there. We played the album from start to finish at Mono for free the day it came out. It had been such a long time, we'd been waiting for ages, so for Mono to fill up so quickly that they had to stop letting people in... that was quite a big moment. It felt real then."

Frightened Rabbit’s mailing list can purchase pre-sale from Wednesday. Tickets go on general sale from 9am on Fri 3 Nov. More details at frightenedrabbit.com
