Dave Grohl's Dain Bramage: Early recordings unearthed

Article by News Team | 20 Jan 2014

Before the Foo Fighters, before Nirvana, even before Scream, Dave Grohl was in a punk outfit who went by the name of Dain Bramage. This weekend, music site Antiquiet posted eight rare tracks by the band on their Soundcloud page. Initially, Grohl played guitar in Mission Impossible (later known as Freak Baby), alongside drummer David Smith, guitarist Bryant Mason, Brian Samuels on bass, and vocalist Chris Page.

According to rock legend, Samuels left the band acrimoniously after fighting with Grohl in the studio. This led to Samuels' departure, and Grohl shifting to a seat behind the kit. The final lineup of Dain Bramage emerged, featuring Grohl, Page and Reuben Radding. They recorded a session at the Laundry Room studios in Arlington, VA, before Grohl left to join Scream. They produced an album, I Scream Not Coming Down, and a clutch of other tracks, which are now available to stream. Listen to the eight unearthed tracks over at Antiquiet.
