Manchester singer/songwriter Mica Millar released her soulful debut solo single My Lover on International Women's Day 2017 and follows with a jazz-influenced The Heal remix.

Formerly lending her emotive tones to dance records such as North Base’s Give You Up and Red Sky Noise’s Only You, with a distinctly powerful voice, she now weaves honest narratives about love and loss taking influence from soul, jazz, gospel and trip-hop.

Much like the remix, the video, directed by Zoe Lauren Maclean as part of the artist’s forthcoming series titled #Ibaskinyourendlesslight seeks to communicate the healing process. “When I was editing the original version of My Lover, I had a section of the song on repeat – 'to heal the wounds he tore' – which gave me the inspiration for the remix and lead into the concept,” Millar explains.

The Skinny are proud to premiere the video ahead of Millar’s performances at the city’s iconic jazz club Matt & Phred’s, Manchester International Festival and The Hidden Valley Festival, where she’ll perform with her six-piece band which includes Adisa Allen (The Mouse Outfit) on drums, Ben Price (Jenna G/8 Gold Rings) on bass, Liam Morson (Family Ranks) on keys/synth and a gospel-inspired backing vocal trio made up of Ellie Hulme, Tsana Osborne & Angeli Swee.
