LYLO – It's Good To Know Your Man (Track Premiere)

Listen to the new track from the genre-straddling Glasgow five-piece

When we caught LYLO in support of Babe in Glasgow earlier this year, we found the five-piece producing "a cacophony of sound with an urgency that's modulated in a very distinct way". The band's sound combines woozy synth with melancholic vocals, syncopated drums and smooth basslines.

Starting life as a trio – drummer Justin Allan, bassist Jack Seaton and vocalist/guitarist Mitch Flynn – the band dropped their debut LP Handsome Living in 2015, before later adding saxophonist Iain McCall and synth player Niall Morris. The band recently completed their new mini-album Post Era, set for release via Glasgow DIY label El Rancho, and we're delighted to premiere new track It's Good to Know Your Man, which you can check out in the player below.

Introducing the track, LYLO's Justin Allan says: "It's Good to Know Your Man came about from a chord progression written on an old synth we had lying around, we took it into rehearsal and wrote other parts without the synth and just hoped that they would all gel – and they did! We dared to originally name it D'Angelo because we thought that it had that sound – but no comparison! The track developed into a homage to that cosmic soul feel as it went on to completely influence the lyrics and vocal melody as well."

Listen to It's Good to Know Your Man in the player below; the single is out on 28 Jul, via El Rancho.
