Living Body – Last Few True (Vessels Remix): Track Premiere

Listen to Vessels' remix of Last Few True by Living Body

Feature by Music Team | 27 Oct 2017

Leeds-based Living Body are Chicagoan Jeff T. Smith (formerly Juffage), Katie Harkin (Sky Larkin / Sleater-Kinney) and Tom Evans (Vessels). They released their self-recorded debut record, Body is Working, in December 2016 and before they head out on a European tour this winter – their last tour for the forseeable future, and possibly their last ever with the current live line-up – they've a rare treat for us in the form of a Vessels remix of album track, Last Few True, which you can listen to in the player below.

Smith tells us: “Katie and Tom are a couple of the first people I met when I moved to Leeds from Chicago. Katie actually came to the first show I played in Leeds, after moving here, at the Brudenell Social Club (though I didn't know it at the time). The second show I played after moving here was with Vessels, and [I] began talking to Katie for a while after the show once she pointed out that we both play the same guitar (which is pretty remarkable as only 700 of them were ever made). Eventually, the 'Sonic Cauldron' concert happened, which was the first show of songs I had written with other live players, and following that, we made the LP.  So, the solo project sort of turned into the band.

"Tom plays in both Vessels and Living Body, and plays a guitar on the original recording of Last Few True. At some point after this, Katie eventually collaborated with Vessels on their new LP. So, this all feels pretty self-contained and none of this would have happened if I hadn't met these people. And where does one thing end and another begin? We've all worked on each others songs in some capacity now. Looking back, it feels as though this remix is a certain product of the tight-knit and welcoming nature of the Leeds music scene, or at least how it was at the time that I moved here. RIP Leeds Music Forum."
