Wrexham-based Gallops are just about to embark on a UK tour after releasing Bronze Mystic last month; essentially a comeback album for the three-piece. We spoke to the band's ringleader Mark Huckridge about the wealth of music that influenced their latest album; from The Beatles to Factory Floor and Oneohtrix Point Never, it’s quite the list.

The band recorded their set at a recent show at Telford’s Warehouse in Chester, and we’re delighted to be premiering the live video for Bronze Mystic track Darkjewel, which will hopefully give you an idea of what you can expect from their upcoming tour dates. Watch the video in the player above.

Huckridge tells us about the track: "Darkjewel is the penultimate track from Bronze Mystic, and probably the most aggressive track on the record. It was one of the first tracks we wrote when we got back together a couple of years back. It’s a pretty accurate reference point for where we're at at the moment, musically speaking. It’s also great to play live and sounds huge on large systems.

“We have very short attention spans, which is something that can be heard on our earlier records, in hindsight. This, along with many tracks from Bronze Mystic presented challenges for us. Initially, we struggled to relax and embrace repetition as a propulsive tool. However, these days we are a lot more comfortable with allowing our music to develop autonomously. Less is definitely more for us, at this stage. We reserve the right to alter this ethos at any time, though."

Catch Gallops on their upcoming UK tour – they play Hug & Pint, Glasgow, 10 May; Jumpin' Jacks, Newcastle, 11 May; The Old Pint Pot, Salford, 12 May; Craufurd Arms, Milton Keynes, 13 May; Boileroom, Guilford, 17 May; The Great Escape, Brighton, 19 May; Corsica Studios, London, 25 May; Clwb Ifor Bach, Cardiff, 26 May.
