The Magic Numbers @ Barrowlands

There is so much feeling in these women's voices, they might break

Tonight, The Magic Numbers faced the sold-out Barrowland full of harmonious energy. Earnestly seeking the audience as a conduit for their eloquent expression of love and loss, frontman Romeo Stodart addresses the audience: "You don't know how much we've been waiting for tonight!" As the lights dimmed over the stage and the lighters came out for 'I see you, you see me', the purity exposed in Angela's voice was heart-wrenching. When the radio-friendly single 'Take a Chance' explodes, the audience is completely spellbound. There is so much feeling in these women's voices, it seems like they might break. Candidly opening up a heart of hurt, love and beauty, their impromptu cover of Kate Bush's 'Running Up That Hill' sends chills through the mesmerized audience. Romeo thanks the crowd for "such an amazing night." Now the question remains: will Romeo keep breaking his heart, or is this spectacle time limited? [Lauren Mooney]
