The Deadbeats @ Capitol

Their appearance and musical style would not look out of place at Woodstock.

The Deadbeats have been touring the country extensively in the past months and tonight they reach Glasgow. Bob Dylan famously started playing an electric guitar and there was an outcry: these fellas from Manchester would not have minded one bit however; their plugged-in folk, with a subtle dash of rock, is neatly packaged in chequered shirts and plenty of facial hair. It is a testament to the local scene's temperament that the Deadbeats go down at Capitol so well, as the gathered audience have clearly assembled for the support bands. Everybody seems to not only enjoy their set but the appreciation shown is not misplaced. The ten song set swings by current single Hotel and the kooky but frenzied Bad Fruit. The Deadbeats' appearance and musical style would not look out of place at Woodstock: with that in mind, their Glastonbury appearance makes for a fitting testament. [Xavier Jones Barlow]
