Seething like the pulsating heart of an electrical storm, Shitdisco is here to plunder the soul of Edinburgh's subculture. With two of Scotland's most promising bands as henchmen, The Venue is battered into submission by vociferous velocity and skewed melodies.

Garage-punk two piece The Very screech in to the fore with a concisely minimal sound that scythes through the air like a Kraut rocking Super Furry Animals. Bound by the throbbing drumming of Jake Miller, vocalist/guitarist Robin Von Blitz cuts a demonic figure, furiously thrashing at his guitar while snarling dementedly into his mike. Dancefloor Hell drives with the amphetamine fuelled pace of The Vibrators while Robot is a high-octane romp lubricated by the spirit of 1977.

The enraptured anarchy is followed by the twee-tastic sound of Bricolage whose gloriously gushing harmonies warm the coldest of hearts. With Orange Juice style riffs and the camaraderie of Futureheads, this is an infectious tribute to the vibrancy of the nation's music scene. Full of gleeful enthusiasm and jingling pop songs, Bricolage is the melting sound of long forgotten summer nights.

This glow soon disappears as Shitdisco take to the stage with a sweat-infested extravaganza of rampant disco-punk. I Know Kung Fu is the stand out track in a blood-thirsty performance, coming across like the howling love child of LCD Soundsystem and The Rapture. Led by astonishingly twisted drums, this is a vicious display from an electrifying group. Finishing like a crack of lightning in the night, Shitdisco leave The Venue to thunderous applause.
