Pop Up combine showmanship with idiosyncratic innovation wrapped around a cool crispy centre

Article by Nick Q | 15 Feb 2006

Art school trendies with a sexy drummer, Pop Up are a band you hear about on the grapevine, the current toast of Glasgow. In the process of being wooed by Chem19 for a single release, Pop Up are one of the many bands to watch at the moment. Vocals sung at autobahn speeds in a thick Glasgwegian accent give the band its voice, sung along to by a foot-stamping crowd who bay at the beginning of each fantastic tune. Musically, the goalposts are burnt outside the stadium, only a wee peek of prior influence can be glimpsed behind their idiosyncratic sounds. Not afraid of a 'la,la,la' singalong, Popup combine showmanship with idiosyncratic innovation wrapped around a cool crispy centre. A sexy band for sure, destined for greatness. Keep your eyes peeled kids.
