Since the fusion of dance and rock is headline news, !!! could be the granddaddies of the scene. But while most bands are content to weld a backbeat to standard rock guitars, !!! are a scramble of influences, fronted by a wilful double act of vocalists and cranked up to the intensity of a hardcore club night. Nic Offer poses front of stage like a retarded sex-god, sporadically disappearing into the crowd and bellowing: John Pugh alternates between mockery and affection, reaching a falsetto that hasn't been heard since the Bee Gees and cracking an array of percussion instruments. Two guitarists explore the outer reaches of psychedelic drone and choppy funk: the keyboards steal from vintage techno. Despite the mayhem, !!! are tight.
