There are only about ten people standing around the room when Kiddo open proceedings. Sounding like The Strokes on speed and with distortion, they play with more energy than their mentors and deserve a larger audience. Five Way Hemmingway step up to the biggest crowd of the night. Appearing as a hybrid of Radiohead and The Doves, they seem lost on a bill of faster, more immediate acts and leave the assembled they aim to entertain standing around talking. Lastly, The Revivals fuse together Brit-pop era Charlatans and good, old time rock 'n' roll. Delivering their songs with the prerequisite swagger, they receive a mixed reaction - half of the mob dances along, the other half leaves after three songs. They keep their energy to the end however, and strut their way through a set includes a Rolling Stones cover, just to reinforce their rock 'n' roll credentials. [Neil Ferguson]
