Kessler @ King Tut's

Souls who choose to face up to the tiresome force of the bleak city and wrestle from it the vitality that pulsates within

Kessler summon images of dark and windswept cityscapes with people - isolated by inner-city living - gazing out of windows flecked with gleaming drops of rain. Rather than wallow in this dystopian backdrop, Kessler provide a redemptive spur to the disengaged souls who choose to face up to the tiresome force of the bleak city and wrestle from it the vitality that pulsates within. Their impressive sound stems from pounding bass and incessant drums, allied to understated but powerful guitar work. Singer, Paul Sloan is an eminently watchable front man and they exude a level of professionalism, which should soon secure them a place among the better bands on Glasgow's local scene. Tonight they are followed by the Felt Tips who further enhance their burgeoning reputation for catchy tunes with witty lyrics and headliner Vinny Peculiar who failed to impress, despite the presence of a couple of ex-Smiths in his band.
