Jimmy James may well have the voice of the Fringe Ð he just needs to work out which one.

Do you hear voices? If not, don't worry, Jimmy James has more than enough for all of us. This sparkling performance is an effortless journey into the grandiose realm of the diva – without any of the childish tantrums. Like a flamboyant cabaret queen, James is an unabashed impressionist whose soaring voice captures some of the world's finest female performers. From Cher to Macy Gray, this exuberant entertainer engulfs the audience with a stream of modern classics that has the crowd rapturously riled from the first dulcet tone of Billie Holiday. With a comfortable stage presence that seamlessly eases into every meticulous medley, this former Marilyn Monroe impersonator was tailor made for the festival's extravagant clientele. Unfortunately, an hour of vocal showboating can feel like an endurance test and you wonder whether this is the fading flicker of a once glistening star. But with a fabulously flirtatious Donna Summer finale there's enough glitz to suggest this compelling chanteuse can rekindle his flame. Jimmy James may well have the voice of the Fringe – he just needs to work out which one. (Billy Hamilton)
