James Carter Organ Trio @ Queen's Hall

It was all very nice…all very groovy, and save for the Smoking Ban, all very Jazz Club

Although I would never claim to be a jazz expert, or even a fan, it was obvious from the reaction of the audience and from the undeniable skill with which this Detroit trio handled their instruments that this was a talented bunch. Comprising a drummer who wouldn't look out of place in the Wailers, an organist with energy to burn and a Jazzman extraordinaire in centrepiece saxophonist James Carter, they head bopped and top tapped their way through a sixty minute cacophony of squeals and drones. All conducted at breakneck speed, may I add. The improvisation of some of the numbers ensured attention wasn't lost. It was all very nice, all very groovy, and save for the Smoking Ban, all very Jazz Club. As far as a workout for the fingers goes, this was fine; I just wonder if I was the only soul that left wondering where the melody was?
was this a one off? Yes it was http://www.jamescarteronline.com
