Gogol Bordello @ The Garage

I can't imagine I'd pop them on when I'm sizzling some bacon

Named after a writer famous for his novel 'Diary of a Madman', Gogol Bordello marry fucked up punk to Russian folk music. With an array of accordions, bizarre looking instruments and funny outfits, they certainly appear interesting, but they manage to fall somewhat flat. Gimmicky, formulaic (despite the exotic frills) they appear to be more of a novelty band than the revelation the music press may lead you to expect. They are entertaining in a live setting, but without any real depth, I can't imagine I'd pop them on when I'm sizzling some bacon. A hipster joke that is as boring as a month of knock-knocks, Gogol Bordello are pretty dull. [Alison Cooper]
