Giant Drag @ Barfly, 12 Apr

A dark, twisted and uninviting place but with a surface of fascinating candour

With a look more likely to be found within the pages of Librarian Monthly than Rolling Stone, Annie Hardy is living proof of the adage: don't judge a book by its cover. Her mannerisms may resemble a 7 year-old wanting more ice cream but her lyrics and observations flow with an acidic wit. Song titles such as You Fuck like my Dad only enforce the dark & light side of Giant Drag. With a clear appreciation of melody, their songs resemble My Bloody Valentine's drone and 70s FM radio Californian pop but are always delivered with the innocence of the aforementioned little girl. On the inside of Giant Drag it is a dark, twisted and uninviting place but with a surface of fascinating candour, you are lured in. Librarians have never been so appealing.
