Dirty Pretty Things @ The Liquid Room

rock and roll's newest saviours, clearly in no mood to disappoint...

With Edinburgh's Liquid Room seemingly more full than ever before and with an air of anticipation befitting something great, rock and roll's newest saviours were clearly in no mood to disappoint. The band, basically the Libertines minus Pete Doherty but with a Cooper in attendance, were tight as the proverbial and in party mood, offering up old Libs favourites Death on the Stairs and I Get Along to frenzied rapture. DPT's own numbers were also impressively received by an at times insanely up-for-it crowd with You Fucking Love It, Bang Bang You're Dead and the rather fine Doctors and the Dealers sounding superb. On this evidence, the 'Things would appear to be comfortable with their collective pasts and ready to use this as a stepping stone to great things in the future. Cracking stuff. [Jon Seller]
