BMX Bandits @ Teviot Union

Time flies when your spilling your heart out to people you don't know very well.

Glasgow indie stalwarts BMX Bandits played a gem of a gig tonight to a small but entirely enthusiastic mob. The latest incarnation of an ever-changing lineup has recently produced the album 'My Chain' and tonight's set list was plucked from the entirety of their expansive back catalogue. It's comforting to know that they are still out there after twenty years, still producing perfectly formed indie pop. The secret of their longevity is the simplicity and charm of Duglas Stewart's songs; each one treading in the familiar terrain of bittersweet tales of loss or a romantic ode to love. It would have been easy to listen to the BMX Bandits play all night, but as Duglas put it "Time flies when your spilling your heart out to people you don't know very well". [Dave Reid]
