Biz Markie and Roxane Shante @ The Liquid Room

as a performance, Biz failed to turn tha party out

The promise of three hip hop legends on one stage filled the Liquid Rooms with normally stoical fans looking adorably dope in their eagerness. Following the news that Big Daddy Kane had cancelled and a below-average effort from the warm up DJ, finally the "Clown Prince of Hip Hop" lumbered on stage. Biz Markie swung into some of his laid-back beat-boxing before delivering the hits the crowd came for; from Vapors and the classically lazy Let Me Turn You On to biggest hit Just a Friend. With one-time Harlem It Girl Roxanne Shante joining Biz on stage - all grins and effortless delivery; embodying old-school in a Daz-white tracksuit - this was fifty minutes Edinburgh won't see again. A shame then that as a performance, Biz failed to turn tha party out; looking less 'I Need A Haircut' and more 'I need a lie down', this was a sad reminder that cash rules everything around us.
