Goose @ Classic Grand, 19 Jun

Article by Jason Morton | 11 Jun 2008

Those Belgian synth punks Goose will lay claim to the Classic Grand in Glasgow on the 19th as part of a three-date UK tour. The group’s sound relies on punchy, crunching beats kept steady under cutting synth riffs, and tracks from their debut album, Bring it On (read our review of that here) share certain elements of electronic paranoia with fellow techno-anarchists Justice, Crystal Castles and MSTRKRFT. The very danceable four-piece comes to Scotland after taking a sabbatical from touring to record a new album, keeping fans satiated in the meantime with a recently released remix collection featuring several of their singles to date, including Bring it On and Black Gloves. To boot, they've also recently turned their hand to reworking other bands’ tunes, putting their touch to the likes of The Futureheads and Scissor Sisters, for the latter of which they adopted an intensified, grinding version of She’s My Man. The Glasgow show will be Goose’s only one north of the border before heading off to London and, subsequently, a summer tour of continental music festivals. Best check 'em now.
