Film fans deserve more from their cinemas in 2018. Now that we’ve all turned our living rooms into micro-cinemas and have a multitude of films available to watch at our fingertips thanks to video-on-demand and streaming services, theatres need to up their game. Discerning cinema-goers no longer want to put up with popcorn-encrusted carpets, back-breaking seating or the smell of radioactive nachos wafting through the air. And they don’t have to, especially if they live close to a theatre that’s part of the Everyman group, the UK’s rapidly-growing independent boutique cinema operator.

At Everyman, you’ll find great cinema with a difference. These theatres pride themselves on offering a wide selection of quality titles throughout the year, from Oscar hopefuls and festival award-winners, to the best of mainstream cinema. But equally important to Everyman is that they aren’t just giving their audiences another bog-standard evening at the movies: a night at Everyman is a proper night out.

“Our focus is really on experience, from a fabulous bar and food and drink menu, to comfy sofa seating and a great programme of film and events” says Crispin Lilly, CEO of Everyman Cinemas. “We aim to make every guest’s visit special no matter what they choose to watch, and make them fall in love with a night at the cinema.”

Everyman has 22 discerning cinemas across the UK, including the iconic Screen on the Green in London, one of the country’s oldest continually-running cinemas, as well as sites in Bristol, Birmingham, Leeds and York. The boutique chain hasn’t made it north of the Border... yet. But that all changes this month with a sparkling new Everyman cinema launching in Glasgow on 26 October.

Situated in Glasgow’s gorgeous Princes Square – named Scotland's favourite building of the past 100 years in 2016 – this newly-minted cinema will be made up of three intimate auditoriums, each designed to provide a welcoming and luxurious film-going experience. Your night at Everyman Glasgow can include kicking back in the cinema's chic bar, sitting down to enjoying some lovely wines and hand-rolled pizzas, and relaxing into Everyman’s pillow-soft sofa seating in front of one of the films from its wide-ranging programme.

Everyman Glasgow will open in grand style on Thursday 25 October with food, drink and a screening of the much-anticipated Bohemian Rhapsody, the foot-stomping celebration of Queen and the band’s extraordinary lead singer Freddie Mercury. Other films screening on this opening weekend include Damien Chazelle’s First Man, which tells the gripping story of how Neil Armstrong and NASA made it to the moon in 1969; the star-studded, twist-filled thriller Bad Times at the El Royale; and Steve McQueen’s explosive heist movie Widows. Expect a similar mix of sharp programming throughout the year, as well as special events and festivals.

"We genuinely can’t wait to open for business in Princes Square,” said Lilly. “It’s our first Scottish venue and we think there’s a great community in Glasgow and an audience that will really enjoy spending the evening with us.”

If you want to be among the first to step into Everyman’s mint fresh bar and auditoriums, advanced booking is available now at Everyman Glasgow’s website.
