Glaswegians love their movies. Glasgow cinemas have some of the UK's healthiest box office takings outside London, so the news that a new cinema will be opening up in the city centre this autumn should be music to the ears of the city’s film fans.

According to Scottish Business News Network, Everyman Cinemas – the super-fancy boutique cinema chain – has chosen Glasgow’s Princes Square to be the location for its first venue north of the border. “We’re so excited to create something special as part of the Princes Square development in Glasgow,” said Crispin Lilly, CEO of Everyman Cinemas. “It’s a vibrant city and we are looking forward to delivering something special for the community.”

Everyman Cinemas has 22 other sites across the UK, and very much specialise in the luxury side of going to the cinema. “Our focus is really on experience, from a fabulous bar and food and drink menu, including lovely wines and hand-rolled pizzas, to comfy sofa seating and a great programme of film and events,” says Lilly. “We aim to make every guest’s visit special no matter what they choose to watch, and make them fall back in love with a night at the cinema.”

It’s reported that Everyman have signed a 30-year lease on this Princes Square location (in the shopping centre’s courtyard next to D’Arcy’s restaurant), and the cinema will boast three screens of varying sizes, seating 95, 74 and 36.
