Waiting...

Despite a decent cast this film never serves up what you've ordered.

Film title: Waiting...
Director: Rob McKittrick
Starring: Ryan Reynolds, Justin Long, Anna Faris
Release date: May 19

Expect to do a lot of waiting during this film: waiting for the next gag that is. Taking place over the course of one day at Shenaniganz Diner, 'Waiting…' follows the staff as they deal with the usual rude, difficult or cute customers. It's a set-up that should allow for crisp, caustic comedy in the vein of Kevin Smith's 'Clerks', but despite a decent cast this film never serves up what you've ordered. Reynolds, of 'Van Wilder' and 'Just Friends', is the best thing in the movie and he's basically playing himself. A running gag involving penis manipulation becomes tired after the first couple of times, and there's just too many familiar set-ups revolving around what pissed-off Chefs do to our food. It all feels like an opportunity wasted, so spend your hard-earned on a tasty meal instead of watching this mess. [Craig Simpson]
