A six episode spin-off from similarly LGBT adult themed supernatural soap Dante's Cove, The Lair takes place on the same island (but in a gay vampire sex club) and plays like Buffy rewritten by Jackie Collins. Full of soapy revelations, daft plot twists and frequent nudity, there's also cringeworthy dialogue and camp performances to put up with. The cast are mostly former adult stars, but there's also Shortbus' Peter Stickles, slumming it here as vamp leader Damian. Best combined with alcohol, The Lair threatens to inspire a dozen potentially deadly drinking games. One drink for a bare chest, two for a butt shot, three for a sex scene... You'd be unconscious by the end of episode one. Of course it's awful. But, despite everything, it's so completely shameless that it's essential viewing. Will our hero Thom survive? Is he the reincarnation of painter, Richard DeVere, former lover of Damian? And is Sheriff Trout really dead after the climactic shoot-out? Roll on series two!
