Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End

At least it's all over.

The first was good, the second was alright and the third is pretty dire. At least it's all over. Or so one hopes, but all the signs point to many more Pirates rehashes, possibly all worse than Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End. The main problem with the third effort is that it's an utterly chaotic mess. Who can remember what actually happens, apart from lots of fighting and vaguely amusing one-liners? Who's on whose side and why? And for how long? And who has got that godforsaken heart? The pirates win of course, whatever it is - domination of the sea apparently. But that's another problem - this is a Disney film; what happened to its moral compass? As the films have gone on the pirates have become less like murdering villains and more like your jolly drunken uncle who lets you swear when your parents aren't there. However, at least with the last in a trilogy you can expect a satisfactory and happy ending. Not so my friends, not so. [Sarah Hunter]
