Stag & Dagger Festival @ Various Venues (Glasgow), 22 May

Article by Rachel Bowles | 30 Apr 2010

If Hinterland wasn’t enough to sate your spring multi-venue festival fix, then day long genre mash up and prevalent Shoreditch export Stag and Dagger should be the all-in-one ticket to wet your whistle.

Amassing a fine selection of established and rising stars, Stag and Dagger returns after a successful 2009, promising a plethora of aural adventures: Blood Red Shoes add discordant, angry angst to the line up, alongside Guardian darlings Kid Adrift, Fun and Chapel Club. New York’s loudest band and MBV favourites, A Place to Bury Strangers, join the heavy reverb, post punk line up of Antlers, Kong , Divorce and Crocodiles. Boston’s Sleigh Bells with their fuzzed up synth-heavy dancepop file in alongside Django Django, Walk Like an Egyption, Silver Columns and grimey electro artist Joker (fresh from Le Social Club) to get you dancing.

For the more delicate amongst us, Scottish folksy regulars My Latest Novel accompany the ambient El Rancho Relaxo, Esben & the Witch and the ethereal game boy that is Gold Panda. For good ol’ fashioned rock & roll there’s Ramones-esq Schnapps, lively Leeds trio Sky Larkin and Brighton’s answer to Paramore, Telegraphs. [Rachel Bowles]

Advance tickets are £15 and available from Ticketweb, Tickets Scotland and the O2 ABC Box Office. Tickets are available on the door for £20.
