The 2016 incarnation of Threshold Festival took place in Liverpool's Baltic Triangle district – a hive of independent creative ventures, providing the perfect backdrop to a three-day celebration of music and art.

Now in its sixth year, festival founder Ingi Thor Jonsson told The Skinny back in March that Threshold is about "grassroots, unique ways of doing things in unique settings... The intention is always to support and highlight up-and-coming artists, some performers who had never really been on stage." This year's line-up featured local scene touchstones such as Natalie McCool and Barberos, alongside emerging lights Killaflaw, Peaness, Pink Kink and more. Meanwhil, visual art exhibition Alchemy: Materials & Transformation featured work produced by over 40 artists hailing from Mersyside and beyond.

In another triumphant year for one of Liverpool's foremost grassroots arts organisations, there was certainly plenty to demand your attention. Check out the gallery, above, to see what our photographer Lisa Stirling caught of the action.
