More Acts Announced For Hydro Connect

Stephen Malkmus & The Jicks, Joan As Policewoman and Black Lips added to the roster

As the Festival Season grows ever nearer, details continue to emerge from this year's Hydro Connect Festival in Inverary.

A trio of cross Atlantic acts have been added to the bill which until now, had a decidedly European feel to it. Former Pavement frontman Stephen Malkmus has been recruited, bringing along his new band The Jicks. Expect a run out of their acclaimed Real Emotional Trash album (review here), and hopefully a smattering of classics.

Joining them will be Connecticut journeywoman Joan Wasser, aka Joan As Policewoman. Once the paramour of Jeff Buckley and more recently seen a member of Antony's Johnsons, Joan came into her own with the excellent The Ride album in 2006. A new album is expected in June.

The last of the trio, and very much the now of the bunch, is Black Lips. On the strength of last year's 'how to' exercise in psychedelic garage rock, Good Bad Not Evil, a set from this four piece from Atlanta, Georgia at Connect should be worth looking out for.

Also recently announced: Soma and Optimo Djs have been recruited to curate the Unknown Pleasures tent, Red Bull will be hosting a Forest Party and Kopparberg will host a party under their very own tree.

These recent additions will join the likes of Franz Ferdinand, Bloc Party, Grinderman, The Roots, The Breeders, Manic Street Preachers, The Gutter Twins and Asobi Seksu in inveraray on 29-31 August.
