Pop icon Kylie Minogue is set to play Glastonbury Festival in its Sunday afternoon 'Legend slot', 14 years after she was forced to pull out of headlining the festival due to health concerns.

Previous acts to play the coveted slot have included Dolly Parton, Tom Jones, Lionel Richie and Dame Shirley Bassey. The Australian pop star's set should provide plenty of the mass singalongs associated with the Legend slot. Minogue’s first singles back in 1987 were a cover of Little Eva's The Locomotion and I Should Be So Lucky, her first of seven number 1 UK singles. Other hits likely to make her Glasto set include Better the Devil You Know, Hand on Your Heart, Spinning Around and the massive Can't Get You Out of My Head.

Of the announcement, Minogue said in a Twitter post: "I'm so thrilled to announce that I'll be playing the 'Legend slot' on Sunday 30th June at @GlastoFest 2019. It will be 14 years since I was originally meant to appear there and so much has happened up to now. I can't wait to see you all there to share this special show."

The news comes shortly after the announcement of grime artist Stormzy as the festival's first headliner.
