Hurrah! Hidden Door will return in 2019! Following a fundraising campaign to secure the future of the non-profit festival, Hidden Door have announced they’ll be back this summer with a more modest event, hoping return to full strength in 2020.

The festival may be reduced in scale, but it’s certainly not skimping on quality. The weekender, which takes place at Leith Theatre over the weekend of 30 May to 2 June, kicks off on Thursday 30 May with an excellent all-women line-up featuring R&B star Ray BLK, experimental pop duo Let's Eat Grandma, and rhyme-masters The Honey Farm. Bookending the night are Edinburgh electronic duo Chuchoter and Glasgow DJ Sarra Wild.

Don’t party too hard at the opening, because on Friday night (31 May) Hidden Door presents an epic nine-hour show featuring some sparkling electronic talent. Kicking off at 6pm, the bill includes live sets from London-based George FitzGerald and Ninja Tune’s Nathan Fake, who’ll be taking us through until 3am with the help of local duo Maranta and acclaimed producer and singer Kelly Lee Owens.

On Saturday, brace yourself for another nine-hour marathon that’ll consist of “top quality tunes and Hidden Door surprises,” we’re told. On Sunday, meanwhile, Cigarettes After Sex will head to Leith Theatre to bring Hidden Door to a close with a set that promises to be "euphoric and atmospheric."

Hidden Door isn’t just about the tunes, though. “The music will be incredible, but Hidden Door is more than just a set of gigs,” said David Martin, Creative Director of Hidden Door. “We are bringing together some of our favourite visual artists from the past five years to embellish and adorn the venue, and together with our incredible production team, we’ll be showing the Leith Theatre off in a more visually stunning and immersive way than ever before! This year, with the acts we have secured, coming to the Leith Theatre will be a truly sublime experience!”
