BBC 6 Music announces line-up for 2016 festival
The line-up for the 2016 edition of BBC Radio 6 Music's annual festival has been announced, with over 50 acts performing at venues across Bristol next month.
The festival's opening night is headlined by Primal Scream, with sets from returning Brooklyn experimentalists Yeasayer, UK hip-hop supremo Roots Manuva, post-punk quartet Savages, and dance-punk outfit !!! (Chk Chk Chk). Saturday sees the festival split into three strands, with Elena Tonra and Daughter joining Steve Mason and C Duncan on the more rock-orientated of the line-ups. Elsewhere, Underworld headline a bill featuring Blanck Mass and Roni Size at the city's historic Colston Hall, while Bob Mould is joined by Mystery Jets and Madrid garage-rockers Hinds at the O2 Academy.
The action is again split across three venues on the festival's final day. The line-up at the Motion venue is headlined by Foals, with sets from Everything Everything, Beirut and Kurt Vile, while Colston Hall plays host to Iceland-based songwriter John Grant, Lost Map's Rozi Plain, Julia Holter, This Is The Kit, a 'noise set' from The Pop Group with Portishead's Geoff Barrow, and Mount Kimbie among others. Veteran punks Buzzcocks headline at the Academy, with support from Bloc Party and Hooton Tennis Club.
The 6 Music Festival takes place at venues across Bristol on Friday 12, Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 February, with a selection of performances broadcast live on BBC Radio 6 Music across the weekend. The full festival line-up can be found on the BBC 6 Music website.
