Festival Watch: Portishead & Interpol for ATP Iceland, Slayer & Alice In Chains for Sonisphere

The headliners for this year's ATP Iceland (10-12 Jul) have been announced – the first two artists heading upthe bill in Keflavík will be moody experimental veterans Portishead, and NYC indie rock royalty Interpol. Portishead have form with the ATP organisation, having headlined and curated previous festivals; Interpol meanwhile will be making their first ever ATP appearance. It is, however, Portishead's first ever gig in Iceland.

Also announced as part of the lineup are Sóley, For a Minor Reflection, Samaris, Low Roar and Mammút. There will be a programme of events leading up to the festival, 7 July in Reykjavík with live concerts, an ATP recordings showcase, art exhibitions, an ATP store, DJs and film screenings. Closer to home, the metal-fest that is Sonisphere (4-6 Jul) have a titanic lineup on offer this year at Knebworth Park. Joining the triple-threat of enormo-headliners already announced – Metallica, The Prodigy and Iron Maiden – will be the immortal Slayer, grunge survivalists Alice In Chains, Atlantan titans Mastodon, French rockers Gojira, Australia's Karnivool and Sweden's theatrical masters Ghost.
