Festival Watch: Mogwai, Slint, Shellac and more for Optimus Primavera

The initial lineup for this year's Optimus Primavera (5-7 Jun), the offshoot of Barcelona's Primavera festival which takes place in Porto, Portugal, has been announced, offering a good balance between bands celebrating their legacies, and newer artists on the up-and-up. Their first wave of acts includes Slint, Shellac, the Pixies, recently re-formed shoegazers Slowdive, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Neutral Milk Hotel, and Television performing their classic album Marquee Moon.

Joining them are The National, !!! (Chk-Chk-Chk), Jagwar Ma, Cloud Nothings, Bicep, Kendrick Lamar, St. Vincent, Warpaint, and our February cover stars Mogwai, riding high on the success of Rave Tapes. On the elctronic side of things, Optimus Primavera have so far confirmed Todd Terje, Darkside, Trentemøller and more. Check out the full lineup announced so far, and book tickets, here.

The Bugged Out Weekender (7-9 Mar) comes early in the festival calendar - we've already told you about the likes of Daniel Avery and Andrew Weatherall heading up the bill, but now they've added a few more DJs and live acts – recently confirmed were Ben Pearce, Boddika, DJ EZ, Eats Everything, LuckyMe's Eclair FiFi, Phantasy boss Erol Alkan, Green Velvet, Justin 'Lionrock' Robertson and more.
